  • When & where is Hay Pride?

    Hay Pride is taking place on Saturday 17 June 2023 from 11.30am until 01.00am.

    Everyone’s welcome and all are invited to meet at The Globe at Hay from 11am , refreshments on sale.

    Parade leaves at 11:30am on the day to join the parade to the Hay Castle which marks the start of the event.

    The family-friendly free-of-charge day celebrations take place at Hay Castle https://haycastletrust.org/ from midday until 6pm, followed by even more live music and partying over at The Globe at Hay http://www.globeathay.org/ until late that evening.

  • Dress code

    Bright, colourful, rainbow, and/or your most authentic self. Drag is VERY welcome.

  • Do I need a ticket?

    The whole day at Hay Castle* is a free event, so just turn up and enjoy the day time celebrations! We can’t wait to see you there.

    *Please note that Hay Castle has a £5 admission charge to any areas which are not part of the Hay Pride event. The Café, Shop and Great Hall and all outside spaces where the main event is taking place remain FREE

  • Are children allowed?

    Yes. This is an event for all the family.

  • How can I join the parade?

    The parade will leave The Globe at Hay (Newport St, Hay-on-Wye, Hereford HR3 5BG) at 11:30am. The parade will proceed from here to Hay Castle.

  • I am not LGBTQ+ - can I still come to Hay Pride

    Of course, Pride is open to everyone: whether you’re part of the LGBTQ+ community, questioning and/or an ally, we’d love to see you there.

  • Can I bring my dog(s)?

    Absolutely - we love dogs! There’s even a Hay Pride Dog Show they can participate in on the day too!

  • Where can I park?

    Please note car parking is limited in Hay-on-Wye. The main Car Park is located at Oxford Rd, Hay-on-Wye, Hereford HR3 5AJ opposite the rear of Hay Castle. This is a long stay car park suitable for all vehicle types.

  • Where is Hay-on-Wye?

    Hay-on-Wye lies on the Welsh side of the Welsh/English Border in the County of POWYS, Wales.

  • How do I get there?

    BY TRAIN

    The closest Train station, approaching from England, to Hay-on-Wye is in the city of Hereford, approximately 21 miles east of Hay-on-Wye. The closest station approaching from Wales is Builth Wells, 19 miles away.

  • Where can I stay?

    Hay Pride is committed to ensuring the event is an event everyone can attend. If you do have accessibility requirements please email hello@haypride.com

    If you require wheelchair access this is through the gated entrance on Oxford road. The inside of the Castle is wheelchair accessible (including a lift) except the Crow’s nest and the Cellars.

  • Which items am I not allowed to bring into Hay Pride?

    The following items are prohibited on the site of Hay Pride events:

    Strictly no psychoactive substances or legal highs.

    No dangerous or hazardous items.

    No alcohol of any kind to be brought onto the sites. There will be a bar on the Castle site and at The Globe at Hay.

    No flares, fireworks, or pyrotechnics

    No Chinese Lanterns

    No Air horns / Megaphones/claxons

    No goods for unauthorised trading

    No portable laser equipment and pens

    No dangerous or hazardous items

    No spray cans (paint) or gas canisters

  • Where can I smoke?

    Please note there will be a designated smoking and vaping area within the Castle grounds.

  • Filming & Photography

    Visitors to Hay Pride may be filmed and/or photographed for future promotions of the event.
